Discover Long Bay Beach

Long Bay Beach, located on the North Shore of Auckland, stretches 1.2 km, making it the longest beach in the area. As part of the Long Bay Regional Park, it offers ample space for visitors, even during busy weekends and public holidays. The large grassed park behind the beach provides additional room for relaxation and picnics.

Safe Swimming and Excellent Facilities

Situated within the sheltered waters of the Hauraki Gulf, Long Bay Beach is a safe spot for swimming. Visitors can enjoy a range of facilities, including public barbecue units, changing rooms, and toilet facilities, ensuring a comfortable beach experience.

Explore the Coastal Walk

The North Shore Coastal Walk, also a section of Te Araroa, passes along Long Bay Beach. From the southern end of the beach, walkers can continue around the rocky coastline to Winstone Cove and further to Torbay, with scenic views and a chance to explore more of the region's coastal features.

Getting to Long Bay Beach

To reach Long Bay Beach from Downtown Auckland, take the Northern Motorway to the Oteha Valley offramp. Follow Oteha Valley Road to the northeast, which changes to Carlisle Road after the major intersection with East Coast Bays Road. Follow Carlisle Road east to Beach Road, then turn north. Follow Beach Road all the way to Long Bay. There is ample parking available at Long Bay Regional Park behind the beach. Public transport options include buses from Downtown Auckland to the North Shore, with stops near the park entrance. Be aware that the beach and park are extremely popular with locals in summer.

Once in the regional park, there are several other options, including a visit to Vaughan Homestead, the Long Bay Nature Trail and following the Long Bay Coastline north of the beach.
