Torbay Waiake Beach

North Auckland

Waiake Beach is a concave beach with a reserve separating it from the main road and the suburb of Torbay. The short section of the cliff, with several big mature pohutukawa, is quite striking. At the north end, Deep Creek enters the beach and can be quite deep but crossable at high tide.

The beach is sheltered and safe for swimming, but it has the added feature of a small, attractive island, The Tor, at the northern end of the point. You can easily walk to the island at low tide.

The beach can be accessed one the North Shore Coastal Walk by walking around the coast at low tide. Walk in from Long Bay and Winstones Cove to the north or Browns Bay via Tipau Point to the south.
