Waiake Beach is a concave beach with a reserve separating it from the main road and the suburb of Torbay on the North Shore of Auckland. The short section of the cliff, with several big mature pōhutukawa, is striking. Deep Creek enters the beach at the north end and can be quite deep but crossable at high tide.
The beach is sheltered and safe for swimming, but it has the added feature of a small, attractive island, The Tor, at the northern end of the point. At low tide, you can easily walk to the island. It can be busy during fine weekends and public holidays.
The beach can be accessed on the North Shore Coastal Walk / Te Araroa by walking around the coast at low tide. Walk in from Long Bay and Winstone Cove to the north or Browns Bay via Tipau Point to the south.
Road access to the beach is immediately off Beach Road.
