Long Bay Beach on the North Shore is much longer than the other North Shore Coastal Walk beaches at 1.2 km. It is part of the Long Bay Regional Park and can be busy during weekends and public holidays. Even when it’s busy, there is generally plenty of room to spread out, including the large grassed park immediately behind the beach.
Like all the Auckland northeast coast beaches, it is well sheltered in the Hauraki Gulf and safe for swimming. There are plenty of facilities, including public barbeque units plus changing and toilet facilities.
Te Araroa also runs along the beach. From the south end of the beach, you can continue around the rocky coast to Winstone Cove and then Torbay.
