Exploring Tipau Point's Scenic Cliffs
Tipau Point is located on the North Shore of Auckland, nestled between the beach at Browns Bay and the Torbay cliffs, which extend to Waiake Beach. This area has particularly striking cliffs and rock platforms, with superb coastal views from the flat platform at the point. It's an ideal spot for a break or a swim, similar to the platform below Tatarata Point.
Walking the North Shore Coastal Walk
Tipau Point is part of the North Shore Coastal Walk. You can walk north, around from Browns Bay during low tide, but walking south from Waiake Beach is easier. The clifftops are adorned with pōhutukawa trees and occasional views of nearby houses.
How to Get There
Beach Road, which connects several of the North Shore Coastal suburbs, takes you directly to Waiake Beach, with roadside parking. From there, walk south below the cliffs to the point. Alternatively, can walk from Browns Bay at low tide, with a moderate scramble.
Following the coastal walk south of Browns Bay is Rothesay Bay and to the north is Long Bay.
