Waiomanu Beach is on the Pōhutukawa Coast, Auckland, Maraetai to the northwest and Magazine Bay to the southeast. It is on the side of Maraetai Coast Road, with limited beachside parking. On busy days, accessing the bay on the Maraetai Beach Path may be easier. This short beach walk provides access from Maraetai and Magazine Bay and keeps you off the road.
The beach is about 300 metres long, has a gentle curve between two rocky points, and is perfect for swimming. It faces the Tāmaki Strait with views of Waiheke Island and Ponui Island. A high tide wall protects the reserve and road behind the beach. Add the white to gold sand, backed by pōhutukawa trees, for the perfect Auckland beach experience! Even though it is close to the road, you barely notice it, even on a busy day.
Because parking is restricted, it tends to be less busy than adjacent Maraetai and Magazine Bay. There are no services, so take a picnic with your togs!
