Ōrakei Wharf

East Auckland

Ōrakei Wharf, also Okahu Bay Wharf, is a 200-metre public pier at the northeast end of Okahu Bay on Tamaki Drive, immediately below Takaparawha Point. Access is on the right side of the Okahu brick building, which is an event venue. It is easy to miss the pier if you are following the shared path on the drive, but it is worth the stop,

The pier is one of the few places to access the Waitamatā Harbour without a boat. The walkway out is relatively narrow, but there is a platform at the end, perfect for wharf fishing or hanging out for a while. The views are 360 degrees, with Downtown to the west, Devonport and Rangitoto to the north, and the eastern bays to the south and east.

The entrance to Kelly Tarton’s is a short distance to the south, on the east side of Tamaki Drive, and the entrance to Bastion Point is 600 metres to the east.
