The North Shore beach at Mairangi Bay on the North Shore Coastal Walk / Te Araroa is a beautiful, safe swimming beach with golden sand, albeit not quite as striking as Campbells Bay. There is a surf club facility, and they put flags out, presumably to encourage kids to swim where they can be seen.
A reserve runs down the full length of the beach, so it feels slightly less suburban than Campbells Bay. There is also a town centre about two blocks from the beach, so it is an easy walk to local cafes and shops.
Road access is from Beach Road on either Sidmouth Street or Montrose Terrace.
