Cornwallis Wharf

West Auckland

The Cornwallis Wharf in the Waitākere Ranges, Auckland, is accessed towards the end of Cornwallis Road, off Huia Road. It is a couple of kilometres down the Karangahape Peninsula from the Cornwallis Beach turnoff. The pier dates back to 1927 and was reconstructed to its original length of 193 m in 1999 after a public fundraising appeal, hence the name plaques on the planks as you walk along it.

If you like fishing, this is also an excellent place to hang out. To the right, south of the pier, is a large grassy embankment above the cliff. On the right side of the pier is Puponga Point, which offers wonderful views if you take a hike from the top.
