Slope Point is a nice rugged cliff at the most southerly point in the South Island. In addition to watching wind-blown surf crash into the cliff, note the memorable line of trees. They were planted as a windbreak but have grown sideways due to many decades of southerly winds!
The point is one of the more remote locations in the Catlins. From Curio Bay, follow metal Haldane Curio Bay Road for about 11 km, then turn left into Slope Point Road. The point is a further 6 km, then a short walk from the car park.
