Exploring Waiiti Beach in Taranaki
Waiiti Beach is a small coastal gem located south of Tongapōrutu and Whitecliffs in the Taranaki region. This beach is an ideal spot for those seeking a quiet escape and the opportunity to explore the area's natural beauty. One option when visiting Waiiti is to explore the Whitecliffs Walkway, a scenic loop walk that offers stunning views and a connection to the region's rugged coastline.
Whitecliffs Walkway Adventure
To access the walkway, drive down Pukearuhe Road from Waiiti Beach to the start of the Whitecliffs Walkway. This track is approximately a three-hour return walk and leads you to the Wai Pingao Stream. From there, you can take a detour at the swing bridge to access the beach, returning below the cliffs at low tide. The walk provides a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the area's rugged natural landscape.
Tide Awareness
When planning your visit, be mindful of the tides. If you want to walk back along the beach, note that the surf reaches the cliffs at high tide, and it is not safe to walk. Checking the tide schedule in advance will ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
