Vaughan Homestead

The Vaughan Stream is at the north end of Long Bay beach and the Vaughan Homestead is on the north slope of the stream, just back from the beach. The house was built by the family that developed the Long Bay farm, which eventually became one of Auckland’s regional parks. The homestead has been restored and is maintained by the Torbay Historical Society, and provides an extra point of interest.

The area around the stream is pretty and photogenic, with several mature pohutukawa trees providing shade for a picnic.
