Tairua Harbour

Tairuia Harbour in the Coromandel is fed by the Tairua River and sits between the beach towns of Tairua and Pauanui. Tairua is on State Highway 25 on the north side of the harbour, and Pauanui is accessed on Hkuai Settlement Road from State Highway 25 on the south side. The twin volcanic peaks of Paku sit on the north side of the harbour entrance to the Pacific Ocean.

Boats can access the harbour from either town, and there are shared walking and cycling trails on both sides. However, the walkways are not linked.

Large grassy reserves on both sides of the harbour make it easy to hang out and a safe place for a wide range of water activities. The bridge as you enter Tairua is a popular jumping-off point at high tide.
