Raglan Domain, also known as Kopua Domain, is a beach reserve located west of the Raglan town centre at the end of Putoetoe Point. Take the short walk from the corner of Bow Street and Cliff Street south along the coastal boardwalk and cross the footbridge. A commercial campground and the Raglan airfield are south of the reserve. The 18-hectare reserve was gifted by Māori to the town in 1923 “to be a playground for Raglan people of both races for all time.”
The point sits between the tidal mouth of Whaingaroa Harbour and one of the branches of the harbour. The edge of the point is made up of black sand beaches, and the harbour estuary is safe for swimming. There is also a playground, a skate park with colourful graffiti, a boat ramp, toilets, and changing rooms. The 3 Bridges Walk, which provides a loop linking the town and the point via Wainui Road, is popular, along with fishing and boating. From Te Kopua Beach, on the west side of the point, you can walk to Wainamu Beach and then on to Ngarunui Beach.
