Te Kūiti is an attractive town in the heart of the King Country. It started as a railway town in the 1880s and morphed into a small rural service town. But it has adapted well to tourists with several cool features near the town centre and railway station that provide reminders of its history. These include a statue of Colin Meads (a very famous All Black of the 1960s), a huge monument to sheep shearing and a beautiful small pavilion commemorating the town's history.
The town sits just above the junction of State Highway 3 to Taranaki or State Highway 4 to Taumarunui. From there, connect with Highway 43, also known as the Forgotten World Highway.
