On your drive towards Tākaka, Golden Bay, there is a viewpoint with a short walk from the road just before the first tight downhill corner to Tākaka Valley.
The path on the south side of the road just before the hairpin is somewhat indistinct, and the viewing platform is now a bit overgrown by trees. But it is worth a stop, providing for a good view.
