There are many beautiful city parks around Aotearoa NZ, and Pukekura Park in New Plymouth is one of them. It is rated a Garden of National Significance with an interesting and eclectic mix of native and large non-native trees.
There are many connected walks around the park, with the walk around the lake as a standout. Even on a dull day, the lake can offer fantastic reflections, especially around Poet’s Bridge. Keep an eye out for the dates of the summer light festival, which is spectacular.
The main entrance is on Fillis Street, 6 blocks south of downtown New Plymouth. Many other entrances are around the park, including three on Rogan Street (east side), Victoria Road (west side), and Brooklands Park Drive to the south.
