Momori Point

Discover Momori Point

Momori Point is situated at the southern end of Wigmore Bay on the west coast of the Waitākere Ranges in Auckland, offering a unique remote coastal experience for visitors. To access the point, timing your visit with low tide is essential. Once there, you can explore a small cave and climb onto a rocky outcrop at the very tip of the point.

Views from Momori Point

From Momori Point, you can gaze south across Wahirua Bay to see Pukekowhai Point, notable for its large, protruding rock. This rock is visible from the northern end of Bethells Te Henga, adding to the area's dramatic coastal landscape. However, venturing beyond Momori Point is challenging due to the cliffs that drop sharply into the sea at low tide.

The rock at the point is also a good spot for observing surfers in action.

How to Get There

To reach Momori Point, walk from Te Henga south along the beach to Raeakiaki Point. At low tide, walk along the rock platform and around the point into Wigmore Bay. Cross the sandy beach in the bay, below the cliffs, to Momori Point.

Nearby, you can also explore the Bethells sea cave and the scenic areas north of Te Henga / Bethells Beach, including caves in Waitākere Bay and spectacular O'Neill Bay. Lake Wainamu is also a wonderful walk from the road into Te Henga.
