Discovering the Marawhara Track at Piha Beach

Situated towards the northern end of Piha Beach, the Marawhara Track provides a brief yet rewarding forest walk. This track is directly accessible from Marine Parade, approximately two-thirds of the way along the road. It is an excellent choice for visitors seeking a peaceful picnic spot away from the busy beach scene, with a grassy reserve surrounded by trees and a creek at the end of the short trail.

Beautiful Nikau Forest

The Marawhara Track is best known for its Nikau palm forest, which dominates much of the walk. There are also several mature pōhutukawa trees enhancing the area's natural beauty.

Picnic and Walking Options

At the junction of the Marawhara and Whakatai streams, a grassy area offers an ideal picnic spot. For those wishing to extend their walk, the White Track begins here. This track leads up to Anawhata Road and continues to Whites Beach. You can also access Te Waha Point and Anawhata.

Getting to the Marawhara Track

To find the Marawhara Track, travel along Marine Parade towards the north end of Piha Beach. The track entrance is about two-thirds of the way along the road. If you reach the North Piha surf lifesaving facility, you have gone too far. The track starts by the road, leading directly into the forested area.

Other nearby attractions include North Piha, Kitekite Falls, the Maungaroa Track and Lion Rock.
