Maraetotara Falls is between Te Mata Peak and Ocean Beach on the Pacific coast. To get to the Falls, take the turnoff from Waimarama Road down Maraetotara Rd. About 3 km along, you will see a sign for Maraetotara Falls, with some roadside parking.
It’s a very short walk from the road to the two waterfalls. When we visited, a flash rainstorm struck, making for a real spectacle. The track was also partially flooded. Even more exciting!
