Limestone Bay

Golden Bay

After leaving Pohara on Abel Tasman Drive, the road follows the coast's edge. Limestone Bay appears quickly. It is notable for the marina's protective walls, which poke out into Golden Bay, and the limestone cliff formation around the northeast end of the marina. The marina seems unusual; it is quite exposed to Cook Strait, with a narrow entrance between its man-made walls.

As you leave the bay, the road passes through a short rough-hewn tunnel in the cliff face.
