Kaikōura is a coastal town in the Canterbury region of NZ. It’s best known for whale and dolphin spotting boat tours. Within the town, the main area of interest to tourists is the section of the Kaikōura Peninsula Walkway at the east end of the peninsula. But, as you head along the peninsula's north side, you will find a sandy section of the beach immediately off the main road. This is suitable for swimming.
This beach contrasts with the stony beaches around much of this coast.
