Located near the corner of Clifton and Rocklands Roads, just a 10-minute drive from Tākaka in Golden Bay, the Grove Track is a captivating short walk. This 30-minute trail is a surprising and unique experience as it winds through a forest dotted with intriguing karst rock formations and boulders.

A Scenic Walk Through Karst Formations

The Grove Track ascends 50 metres through a small but enchanting forest. The path is lined with a variety of exposed karst rock shapes, creating a fascinating landscape. As you approach the top, you'll encounter a narrow slot canyon adorned with thick vines. This leads to a stunning viewpoint overlooking the Tākaka River valley and the nearby coastline.

Before you begin your walk, take a moment to admire the remarkable tree growing over a massive boulder right beside the car park. This natural feature is a testament to the area's unique characteristics.

How to Get There

To reach the Grove Track, drive approximately 10 minutes from Tākaka on Abel Tasman Drive to the turnoff onto Clifton Road. The track access is a short distance along the road, at the corner with Rocklands Road. The track is well-signposted.
