Glendhu Bluff

Queenstown Lakes

Glendhu Bluff is a short drive northwest along Mt Aspiring Road from Glendhu Bay. There are two tight turns around the side of the bluff, overlooking the lake, then a short straight section with trees on the right. The verge on the right-hand side is wide enough to stop safely on the second curve, overlooking the lake and next to the trees. There is a further informal parking area about 100 metres further on, where you will see some fire damage.

Take care, as all these parks are on the right side of the road. It is probably best to continue a short distance to West Wanaka Road to turn around safely. At the place by the trees, there is a short track through the scrub to a viewpoint over the bay. You can see the “alien head and body" reflection from here! Roys Peak is effectively the shoulders.
