Beacon Point Walk

Queenstown Lakes

From central Wānaka, you walk or cycle to Beacon Point along the lake's edge. The first section of the walk is on the footpath that connects with the lakefront tracks and goes past the marina and yacht club at the northeast end of Roys Bay. There is a purpose-made lakeside track to Eely Point and Bremner Bay from the yacht club. From Eely Point, the track becomes the Beacon Point Track. The track runs alongside Lake Wānaka, with fantastic mountain and lake views to the west and northwest. Although the track is suburban, the houses are attractive and interesting.

Eely Point is a large reserve with mature exotic trees and several tracks. It is about halfway between the town centre and Beacon Point and is popular with locals and boaties, with easy access to the lake. Immediately north of the point is Bremner Bay, with a sandy beach.

It takes about 30 minutes to walk each section of the track from the town to Eely Point, then from there to Beacon Point. This is also a section of Te Araroa.
