Kaitarakihi Bay is a very pretty beach but easy to miss between the Karangahape Peninsula and Huia on the Manukau Harbour. Shortly after the Kakamatua Inlet track turnoff, there is a sign for Kaitarakihi Road. There is a small parking area about 200 metres along the road for the Spragg Memorial track – about 20 minutes each way and similar to Puponga Point.
Keep going down the hill to the beach. It is a genuine surprise, surrounded by native forest and with easy walking below the cliffs to the north as the tide goes out. We think the photos speak for themselves.
