Discovering Diana Falls
Diana Falls is an interesting waterfall located along State Highway 6, nestled between Makarora and Haast on the West Coast of the South Island. This waterfall is a notable stop for travellers due to its picturesque setting and the stunning view of the Haast Gorge below.
Scenic Views from the Bridge
The bridge near Diana Falls offers an excellent vantage point to appreciate the Haast Gorge. From here, you can take in the dramatic landscape and the cascading waters of the falls, making it a worthwhile stop when travelling along this scenic route.
Changes to the Viewing Area
In 2012, a significant rock slide altered the landscape around Diana Falls. The rockfall resulted in the loss of a larger car park, which tumbled into the gorge. Consequently, the face of the falls is now covered in protective mesh to prevent further erosion and ensure visitor safety. Despite these changes, there is still enough space to stop beside the bridge.
How to Get There
